Porters has closed for the season today however Craigieburn and Broken River are still open at this stage!
Waimak Alpine Jet and Rubicon Valley Horsetreks are operating each day - book in for your work do activity!
Come and sit for a while and enjoy the magnificent views of the Torlesse Range over a coffee and muffin!! For every muffin sold we will donate 10c to the New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation!

We are back again after a few days of shakes and still the unknown of when they will stop. We are certainly thinking of those Cantabrians who have been badly effected by the quake.
Tranz Alpine Train has travelled today for the first time since the Canterbury Earthquake on Saturday. Things are slowly coming back to normal. Waimak Alpine Jet, Rubicon Valley Horsetreks and skifields in area are mostly operating - contact us for full reports.

Well we finally get to see our favourite mountains this morning - having not seen them for a week - it is an awesome site!
We all feel alive again - even the birds sound happy today!!!
Tranz Alpine little over time this morning - but what a great trip today seeing the mountains coming out from their cloud and fog!!
Rubicon Valley Horsetreks and Waimak Alpine Jet are full in operation as they are everyday - and why not head out today to enjoy the fresh country air!!
All skifields are operating - but they have enjoyed the skiing for the last week above cloud - another beautiful day in paradise.
Remember to call into Springfield on your way through to the Coast - pick up your Great Alpine Highway Brochure for your "journey of adventure and discovery".

Beaut photos captured from the Porters Webcam this morning at 7.40am and 9.40am!
Get up above the cloud and this is how the day is - unfortunately Springfield is in amongst this fog this am!
So most of the skifields are open today - so if you enjoy the sun - thats where you need to be!
Don't forget to call in and pick up your information for the Great Alpine Highway from us here at the railway station or make your jetboat or horsetreck booking here too.
Pop in for a coffee with some great homemade baking and enjoy the memorabilia and photos on the wall and tranquil surroundings.

Very strong winds overnight - and still blustery gale force winds on the skifields - so all are closed today.
Trying to rain in Springfield here today - but winds have dropped.
Still take care travelling along the Great Alpine Highway SH73 today with the winds. The road is open.
Snow is due to fall above 1800mtres tonight. Porters and Arthur's Pass are at 900mtres

Overcast day here today and cooler weather - beautiful sunrise though.
The skifields are open - however the wind is due to get up again as the day goes on! Some rain forecast with more snow on the mountains.
Horsetrekking available as well as jetboating with Waimak Alpine - receive 10% discount when you book your jetboat ride with us!! Tranz Alpine Train on time today!!
Roads are clear - Grerat alpine Highway open with no restrictions. But drive carefully.

Raining in Springfield today with sleety showers.
Porters Pass has a restriction of chains esssential - snowing heavily on the Ski Areas with Porters and Craigieburn closed.
Steam Train excursion has been through today - great sight in the colder air with lots of steam and smoke.
Take care on the passes and make sure you have chains.
Travel safe and keep warm and cosy!!

Lovely morning here although the day has clouded in as the day has gone on with rain and snow forecast for later this evening.
The Tranz Alpine was through on time this morning.
All skifields were open with snow falling earlier this morning! More snow forecast for this evening and tomorrow!
Waimak Alpine Jet are operating - if you book through us your received a

If you are travelling over the Great Alpine Highway over the next days be sure to check the road conditions and carry snow chains. Drive carefully!

We have an overcast day here with gusty winds and light drizzle from time to time - the high winds are due to get stronger as the day goes on! The sun is trying to shine too.
Drive carefully on the Great Alpine Highway SH73 especially if you are in a campervan or high vehicle. Road conditions are clear but just watch the wind.
Porters is the only skifield open at present - although Tbar 3 was on hold due to the high winds. See the

Waimak Alpine Jet are now not operating their midday tour today due to high winds - possibly the same could happen to their afternoon tour too.

After a week of wonderful blue sky cold days with heavy frosts we have an overcast day here in Springfield.
Come out and visit the Rewi Alley Memorial and have a walk around Springfield - you will be suprised by what the township has to offer - Cafes - Craft Shop - Hotel - Garage - and of course the Railway Station housing the information centre, cafe and memorabilia on the walls. Tranz Alpine Train was through on time this morning.
The township also offers several different types of accommodation options.
Most of the ski fields are open today with great snow - as is the Waimak Alpine Jet.
The Great Alpine SH73 Road Conditions are clear and all good to go through to the West Coast!
Come for a drive to Springfield - you will be pleasantly suprised! Drive careful and have a brilliant day!

Another lovely day in paradise - 7degrees at present but the mountains are gleaming in the sun.
Tranz Alpine train is on time today and just been through.
All skifields are open with great snow - a little bit of wind on the tops and will watch this as the wind is due to increase later in the day. Perfect here in Springfield at the moment - no wind!
Come on out - Waimak Alpine Jet operating and Rubicon Valley Horsetrek - call for time and prices etc.
A great day to be had in Springfield!

Mainline Steam Train Excursion Chch- Arthur's Pass return - due through Springfield round 10am and return 4pmish!
High Cloud today - dry and 8degrees
All Skifields are open - from all reports - great skiing and riding - some sun on the skifields.
Also Rubicon Valley Horsetreks and Waimak Alpine Jet operating today.
Tranz Alpine on time today!

Morning has started out foggy however it has lifted to give a ring of cloud around under the Torlesse Range with the fresh snow gleaming in the sun above the cloud and blue sky in the background.
SH73 - Great Alpine Highway is clear - no snow and no restrictions. Great day for a horse trek or a jetboat ride or just get up onto the skifields to enjoy a wonderful day on fresh snow. All skifields are open!
Tranz Alpine on time due through here at 9.05am.
